CSIRO spends $3.7 million on bullying investigation

The CSIRO revealed in a much belated response to a Question On Notice issued by Greens Senator, the Hon. Penny Wright back in February that it had currently spent $3.7 million dollars on investigating allegations of bullying and other unreasonable conduct which have been plaguing the CSIRO for some years.

We note that despite the CSIRO withholding the answer until the 9th of May, the figure provided only covered the cost of the investigation up to February when the question was first proposed by the Hon. Sen. Wright.

It is quite inconcievable that the CSIRO would not have incurred any further costs between February and May, particularly after release of the Stage 2 General Findings in April.

One would expect that an eminent legal firm such as HWL Ebsworth would be quite eager to seek outstanding payment for services rendered.

We expect that the final figure for the cost of the investigation will be substantially higher than the $3.7 million proffered by the CSIRO, particularly when considering that such figures are legal costs only do not include any consideration for the vast amount of CSIRO employees time expended in the investigation process.

Victims of CSIRO will shortly publish a response in relation to the Stage 2 General Findings, which is currently going through the final stages of a significant review process.

We have yet to receive a single positive response from those who have participated in the investigation process. Whilst we would normally expect a certain amount of dissent from participants, 100% negative feedback is extremely alarming.
